Meet darren

As the founder and president of DMZ Productions, Darren has spent more than two decades helping organizations, businesses, schools, and individuals tell their stories through journalism, marketing, video production, and strategic communications. He is the nation's first graduate to earn a doctorate in Strategic Communications, with academic experience that includes studies at Eastern Kentucky University, Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, and Regent University. He has also taught at the collegiate level and worked with clients across the country.

But credentials are only part of the story. Behind the degrees, accomplishments, and professional success was someone quietly battling depression, grief, and isolation.

There was a season of Darren's life when some of his biggest moments were experienced alone. Milestones that should have been celebrated. Losses that should have been shared. Looking back, he realized that the people who should have been there often weren't. The weight of those experiences changed him. He became colder. More guarded. Less supportive. He allowed pain from the past to influence his relationships and shape the person he was becoming.

For a long time, he carried that hurt. Eventually, Darren came to a difficult realization: you cannot live your best life when you allow the worst moments of your life to control your present and future.

That realization sparked a commitment to growth. By focusing on becoming just 1% better each day, Darren began transforming his life physically, mentally, and emotionally. Through fitness, discipline, self-reflection, and honest conversations, he found a path forward. Along the way, he discovered something powerful:

The conversations men avoid are often the conversations they need most.

That belief led to the creation of Men, Talk: Breaking the Stigma.

Through the podcast, Darren shares authentic conversations about mental health, resilience, personal growth, grief, relationships, fitness, and purpose. His mission is simple: help men understand they are not alone, encourage them to ask for help when they need it, and create a space where vulnerability is viewed as strength.

Today, Darren continues to tell stories for a living. But the story he is most passionate about is helping others find hope in their own. Because if one conversation helps one person stay, heal, or realize they're not alone, then it's a conversation worth having.
